Hot weather continues in the Umpqua Valley, with the potential of setting a record high for the date on Friday.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the mercury reached 96 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport on Thursday. That was 5 degrees shy of the record high for September 14th which was 101 degrees, set in 1937. Roseburg has a better shot at setting a new record for the date Friday. The record high is 95 degrees, set in 2008, with the forecast calling for a maximum temperature of 94 degrees.
A cool down begins on Saturday with a high of 91 degrees forecast. It should reach 88 degrees on Sunday and 83 degrees on Monday. Highs will be in the 70s for a few days beginning on Tuesday.
