HOT TEMPERATURES RETURN, RECORD HIGH POSSIBLE FRIDAY

Hot temperatures are returning to the Umpqua Valley for a few days and a new record high for the date could be set on Friday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the mercury is slated to reach 95 degrees on Thursday and 96 degrees on Friday at the Roseburg Regional Airport. Thursday’s record for the date is 101 degrees, set in 1937. On Friday, the record is 95 degrees, set in 2008. The high is slated to be in the low 90s on Saturday before dropping to the 80s beginning on Sunday. Highs Tuesday and Wednesday are forecast to be in the 70s.
