A pedestrian was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday night.

A Roseburg Police report said at 8:00 p.m. a man was driving westbound in the 1100 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard when the victim stepped into the roadway. The driver was unable to stop before his vehicle struck the man. The victim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center by ambulance. He was later life-flighted to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, in critical condition.

The driver was cooperative with the investigation and no signs of impairment were observed. Witnesses corroborated the driver’s statement. The report said at this stage of the investigation, the incident appears to be non-criminal.
