A change in the weather will test control lines on the Tyee Ridge Complex, northwest of Roseburg.

The fire is listed at 7,922 acres and is 55 percent contained. 1,134 people are assigned to the fires.

An update from Northwest Incident Management Team 3 said mop up has been the focus for several days. Crews have been working on mopping up hot spots and gridding the area adjacent to control lines in preparation for the change in the weather. Incident Meteorologist James White said a three-day test of control lines is beginning with a shift in wind direction along with a slight increase in wind speed, warming temperatures and lower humidity.

Some portions of the Tyee Ridge Complex are in patrol status with firefighters removing equipment and fire hose from the fire line to be prepped for the next fire.

Handheld and drone infrared cameras continue to be used during night operations to identify areas of heat near control lines which need to be mopped up. Crews are continuing to focus on mop up efforts 200 feet from the control line and 300 feet in areas near structures.

Smoke and flames may be visible as vegetation within the fire’s interior burns. Increased wind, higher temperatures and lower humidity will likely increase the visibility of these hot spots.

Hubbard Creek Road is open to local residents and fire vehicles only. There may be traffic delays.
