On Thursday, Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin announced his intent to run for re-election.
Hanlin said the announcement was made to communicate his intent to run for a fifth and final term. Hanlin said he will officially file for the office on or shortly after September 14th.
Hanlin’s email to media outlets said, “I am grateful for the many years of support Douglas County residents have given me and my office and I would be greatly honored to serve another (fifth) term as your Sheriff”. Hanlin said, “The past 34 years serving with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has been a tremendous honor, and the past sixteen years as your Sheriff has been even more remarkable. Thank you for this incredible opportunity”.
Hanlin said the future of the county, state and country are certain to be full of challenges in the coming years. Hanlin said, “…but they are challenges that I and my staff look forward to, and are prepared to engage”.
The Office of Sheriff will be among positions voted on in the May 2024 Primary Election in Douglas County.
