In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

The Umpqua Valley Youth Orchestra is registering students for the upcoming 2023-2024 season.

Music Director Kristin Parks said classes are open to anyone six years old and older and no previous experience is necessary. Parks said the UVYO includes violin, viola, cello and string bass. Instruments are available for rental on a first come basis. UVYO consists of five levels from pre-beginning up to the advanced orchestra.

Parks has over forty years of experience teaching strings and twenty-five years of experience as an orchestra conductor/director. Students will perform in a winter and spring concert as well as several other smaller performances. The first rehearsal is September 14th at 4:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church on West Harvard Avenue.
