A Roseburg man has died while in custody at the Douglas County Jail.
Lieutenant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said last Friday just before 2:00 p.m. the man was found unresponsive in his cell. O’Dell said deputies summoned emergency services and attempted lifesavings efforts. Despite this, medical personnel declared the adult in custody, 35-year old James Thomas Dietlin of Roseburg deceased.
Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin requested the assistance of the Roseburg Police Department, to investigate the circumstances of the death. An autopsy was conducted last Sunday at the Oregon State Medical Examiners Office in Clackamas. The results of the autopsy are pending additional test results. The OSMEO noted there were no indications of foul play.
O’Dell said any further information will be released by the Roseburg Police Department.
