Taylor Siling has been named as the Douglas County Youth Orchestra’s Music Director, starting this fall.

A release said Siling is excited to take the lead of an organization where she participated as a young violinist. Siling is a Roseburg native and was one of the earliest violin students with the orchestra. She was also the longest continuous participant. Siling took part in the choir and band programs at Roseburg High School, as well.

Siling performed in eight summer musicals at Umpqua Community College. She was part of the Umpqua Singers, touring to several countries. Siling transferred to Oregon State University where she earned a BA in music with a focus on choral music and choral education. She later earned a Master of Arts in Teaching, Music Education at OSU.

In addition to her DCYO Director duties, Siling is the music teacher at Fir Grove Elementary School in Roseburg and has a private instruction studio as well.
