An Air Quality Alert is in effect until 5:00 p.m. Thursday for much of southern Oregon.
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Pollution Advisory. It applies to eastern Douglas, Josephine, Jackson and northern Klamath counties.
DEQ said wildfires burning in the region combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and reach unhealthy levels at times.
Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on the weather. People are risk include infants and young children, people with heart or lung disease, older adults and those who are pregnant.
