The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is continuing its investigation of a recent homicide in the Oakland area, but no arrests have been made.
On Saturday August 12th at about 1:30 p.m. 911 dispatchers were notified of a suspicious death at a residence in the 400 block of Coltrin Lane. Deputies and officers from the Sutherlin Police Department responded to the scene and determined that the death was the result of an apparent homicide. The victim was identified as 88-year old Terry Lea Deane of Oakland.
The Major Crimes Team was activated with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assigned as the lead investigating agency. The team includes DCSO along with the Roseburg Police Department and Oregon State Police, working in consultation with the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.
On Friday, Lieutenant Brad O’Dell said there is no further information to be released at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact DCSO at 440-4458.
