The Bedrock Fire in the Willamette National Forest has grown by approximately one thousand acres and is now listed at 28,215 acres.

An update from the Northwest Interagency Incident Management Team 12 said firefighters have taken advantage of the cooler temperatures and higher humidity to build direct control lines on the western fire edge. Firefighters working in conjunction with dozers moved quickly to piece together lines along the fire’s southwestern edge and successfully secured a “slopover” where the fire crossed the fire line. Heavy equipment remained engaged in improving roads to use as alternate and contingency lines. An Unmanned Aircraft System has been used to map portions of the western fire perimeter.

Firefighters are conducting firing operations to secure portions of the western fire edge if weather conditions are favorable, continuing progress in constructing a network of primary, alternate and contingency lines using a combination of hand line and dozer line. Firefighters from the Oregon State Fire Marshal Task Force are improving areas around structures and testing the sprinkler systems that were installed over the past few days.
