New academic programs this fall at Umpqua Community College have the opportunity to get students on the path to high-wage careers in a number of areas.

A UCC release said this includes medical assistants, paramedics, medical office managers, phlebotomists, dieticians, sports therapists, robotics engineers, accountants, viticulturists and more. Two new degrees and ten new certificates are now available.

The release said these programs have been built in collaboration with local industry partners and will provide students with expertise in high-growth areas where employers are searching for talent.

Students can gain a certificate to begin work immediately after graduation or transfer to a university for an advanced degree.

Registration is open until September 25th and scholarships are available. Foundation scholarships can be applied for until August 31st.
