Roseburg Police charged a man with a felony count of strangulation following an incident on Saturday.

An RPD report said at 4:00 p.m. officers contacted a victim in the 1200 block of Northwest Ellan. The victim said a 54-year old man had strangled her and threatened to kill her at their residence. The suspect ran from the scene and after a brief search of a neighboring property was found hiding under a tarp in the bushes.

Evidence on the scene supported the victim’s statement, so the man was taken into custody. He was also charged with menacing and was detained without bail.
