The City of Roseburg Fire Department has announced that Administrative Battalion Chief Randy Babbitt served his last shift in the fire service on Monday.
A social media post said Babbitt served for thirty-six years, the last five with RFD.
Babbitt served in the positions of firefighter, driver/engineer, captain, and administrative battalion chief. Before working for the Roseburg Fire Department, Babbitt worked for Huntington Beach Fire Department, in California. He also worked as an instructor at Advanced Extrication Tech, Santa Anna College Fire Academy, Fresno Training Symposium and Firehouse World.
RFD said during his tenure here, Babbitt was instrumental in transitioning the department to two new software programs that were vital in updating policies and procedures as well as the department’s training program.
As Chief of Training, Babbitt was instrumental in scheduling, training, coordinating and ensuring that all fire related training was always meeting state, national and industry standards.
