Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man following a traffic stop early Wednesday.
A DCSO report said at about 3:15 a.m. the 50-year old driving a pickup allegedly attempted to evade a deputy from Main Street down to Pepsi Road in the Winston area. The deputy quickly caught up to the man and conducted a traffic stop. At first the man was cooperative but became agitated when the deputy asked if he had firearms in the vehicle.
The man was cited for multiple traffic violations and the pickup was impounded. The report said it was evident the man did not want to stay in the area as he quickly left. During a search of the vehicle, a .38 special was allegedly found in the center console. The suspect was located later and taken into custody.
He was charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon and for having a concealed weapon. The driver was detained without bail.
