An elderly woman died after a single vehicle accident Wednesday morning in Green.

Lieutenant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 11:15 a.m. a sedan was headed southbound in the 3000 block of Carnes Road. O’Dell said according to witnesses the vehicle jumped the curb and struck a stand of mailboxes. Witnesses stated that the sedan reentered the roadway and went into oncoming traffic. O’Dell said the vehicle then reportedly jumped over the curb and came to rest in a bush.

The report said witnesses indicated that the driver appeared to be unresponsive as she came into the oncoming lane of traffic. A window was broken out to get to the driver. After removing the woman from the vehicle, the witnesses did not feel a pulse. Medics arrived on the scene and started CPR.

The woman was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. She woman was identified as 86-year old Naomi Noble. O’Dell said the wreck is suspected to be the result of a medical event while the woman was driving.
