Roseburg Police jailed a man following an alleged assault on Tuesday.

An RPD report said at approximately 8:00 p.m. 51-year old Larry Farmer allegedly assaulted a victim inside her vehicle as she drove him around Roseburg. During the drive, Farmer allegedly strangled the victim, punched her, stabbed her with an ink pen, pulled her hair and reportedly threatened to harm her further.

A portion of the incident occurred in Sunshine Park on Sunshine Road. The report said witnesses were so appalled by what they saw that they felt compelled to intervene on her behalf.

Farmer was charged with strangulation, fourth-degree assault, menacing and for second-degree counts of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. Farmer was detained without bail.
