A Roseburg man was jailed following an alleged elude incident early Wednesday.

A Roseburg Police report said at 3:15 a.m. while driving southbound in the 1600 block of Northeast Stephens Street, a sedan passed an officer driving northbound. The officer turned around to stop the vehicle for speeding, but it accelerated away and tried to elude. The officer caught up to the vehicle but it continued to attempt to elude until it stopped in the 800 block of Northeast Alameda Avenue.

The driver, 48-year old Francisco Beltran, fled on foot. Beltran was taken into custody after a short foot chase. He was charged with attempting to elude police on foot and in a vehicle. and for reckless driving. Beltran was detained without bail.

The vehicle was towed away.
