Roseburg Police jailed a man after a crash severely damaged a fence at Fir Grove School early Sunday.

An RPD report said just after 12:35 a.m. officers contacted the 29-year old after the accident in the 1200 block of West Harvard Avenue. The man’s sedan had run into the fence separating the school from the sidewalk. During their conversation with the driver, the man said he had been drinking during the evening. Officers determined that the driver was impaired and took him into custody.

The man refused to provide a breath test and a search warrant was written. A sample of his blood was taken at CHI Mercy Medical Center. He was charged with DUII alcohol and for reckless driving. Bail was set at $16,250. The vehicle was towed and Roseburg Fire Department assisted with clean up at the accident scene.
