The Flat Fire, located in Oak Flat and two miles southwest of Agness in Curry County is roughly estimated to be 3,000 to 4,000 acres.
An update from the U.S. Forest Service said on Sunday crews focused on structure protection in the communities of Oak Flat and Agness where approximately forty structures are threatened.
Virginia Gibbons of the USFS said fire behavior remains active, with the fire making the biggest gains in the Lawson Creek drainage. Gibbons said the fire is fully established on both sides of the Illinois River and burning in the 2022 Biscuit Fire Scar.
Additional resources arrived on the scene Sunday, including ten crews, two water tenders, nine engines, 1 fixed wing aircraft, three helicopters and miscellaneous overhead resources. Multiple air tankers and Coos Forest Protective Association resources also continued to work the fire.
Northwest Team 6 is scheduled to assume command of the fire on Monday.
