Progress continues on the Little Wolf Fire in the Umpqua area.

Racheal Pope, Public Information Officer for the Douglas Forest Protective Association said the fire was reported just after 1:15 p.m. Saturday. Pope said DFPA crews along with Douglas County Fire District No. 2, and firefighters from agencies in Winston-Dillard, Kellogg and Oakland responded to an estimated six-acre fire located in a rock quarry near Tyee Road.

Pope said firefighters engaged in an aggressive initial attack. DFPA’s resources included three squads, six engines, one dozer, three helicopters and one air craft. The fire is estimated at eight acres in timber and brush.

The fire was one hundred percent plumbed and sixty percent trailed by 7:00 p.m. Pope said the night shift made great progress and was able to close up the left flanks, lining one hundred percent of the fire. Fifteen percent of mop up was accomplished as of 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

No homes or structures were threatened by Little Wolf Fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation and human caused.
