Work continues at the Anderson Market development on West Harvard Avenue in Roseburg.

On Tuesday, the vacant building in the southwest part of the property, next to Harvard, was demolished. Cleanup continued on Wednesday. Developer Tom Rogers of Rogers Engineering told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the project was not part of the original plan, but owner Manjit Kaur decided that removing the building would give better visibility to the back building. Rogers said there are no immediate plans for that building other than to clean up the front canopy.

The building that was removed had recently served as home to an auto detailing business. It had also been occupied by a painting contractor and lawn mower repair business in past years.

Rogers said planning for the development started in 2019. Initial plans were submitted to the city in the middle of 2020. The property was divided into two parcels with the market on one parcel and the other buildings on a second parcel. Final city approval came in June of 2022. A small building where the new store was located was demolished in June of 2022. The old Anderson Market building was demolished in October of 2022.
