A Roseburg man was jailed for alleged prior meat theft on Wednesday.

A Roseburg Police report said on June 22nd an employee of Fred Meyer on Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard said that a man in a blue Dodge pickup had stolen a T-bone steak and Pepsi from the store.

At 11:00 p.m. officers stopped the suspect vehicle in the 5200 block of Highway 138 East for an unrelated incident and recognized the driver as the suspect from the theft.

The 46-year was charged with third-degree theft. He was detained on $1,250 bail.

About thirty minutes earlier the man and a victim were parked at the library in the 1400 block of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard, when they got into an argument. The victim tried to get out of the vehicle before the man sped away, almost causing the victim to fall out of the vehicle. The man continued driving away with the victim’s door open, and headed east on Diamond Lake Boulevard. They were ultimately located and the man was arrested without incident. The driver was cited for recklessly endangering another person but was jailed for the earlier mentioned offense.
