It was a hot 4th of July in the Umpqua Valley and a new record high temperature was set for the date.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said the mercury reached 98 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport. The previous record high for July 4th was 96 degrees, set in 2015.
Roseburg could see the record high for the date tied, or exceeded on Wednesday. The forecast high of 97 degrees would equal the record for July 5th, set in 1960.
High temperatures in the region are forecast to cool to the mid to upper 80s for the next several days.
