A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 11:00 p.m. Wednesday for much of the Umpqua Valley.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said afternoon high temperatures ranging from 98 to 101 degrees will lead to increased risk for heat illnesses.

The Advisory area includes portions of central Douglas County and its eastern foothills below 4,000 feet. This includes the communities of Roseburg, Sutherlin, Elkton, Drain, Tiller, Camas Valley, Steamboat, Toketee Falls and Glendale.

Those planning to be outdoors for an extended amount of time should take actions now to prepare for the heat.

Forecasters said residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
