A Heat Advisory is in effect from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday through 11:00 p.m. Wednesday for much of the Umpqua Valley.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said afternoon high temperatures will range from 98 to 101 degrees, leading to an increased risk for heat illnesses.

The Advisory area includes portions of the Umpqua Valley and the eastern Douglas County foothills below 4,000 feet. This includes the communities of Roseburg, Sutherlin, Elkton, Drain, Tiller, Camas Valley, Steamboat, Toketee Falls and Glendale.

Forecasters said those planning to be outdoors for an extended time should take actions now to plan for the heat.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left in unattended vehicles under any circumstances.
