Roseburg Police cited a woman for second-degree animal neglect on Friday.

An RPD report said just before 6:30 p.m. dispatch received several calls about a dog that was left inside a vehicle for a prolonged period of time in the 1700 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard. The temperature around that time was around 96 degrees. The dog was removed from the vehicle after it showed signs of distress.

The animal’s owner, a 67-year old woman, was identified and given the citation.
