Forecasters at the National Weather Service said afternoon high temperatures will range from 98 to 103 degrees leading to an increased risk for heat illnesses.

Both days could set new record high temperatures for the date. Tuesday’s record high temperature is 96 degrees, set in 2015. The record high for Wednesday is 97 degrees, set in 1960.

The Advisory area includes central Douglas County and its eastern foothills. This includes the communities of Roseburg, Sutherlin, Elkton, Drain, Tiller, Camas Valley, Steamboat, Toketee Falls and Glendale.

Forecasters said those planning to be outdoors for an extended amount of time should take actions now to plan for the heat.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
