Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man for an alleged DUII incident on Thursday.

A DCSO report said at about 10:40 a.m. a caller said a man was laying in the middle of the roadway near the 27000 block of Lower Smith River Road in the Reedsport area. Prior to arriving, Gardiner Fire reported that a man who had a firearm and appeared intoxicated was seen leaving the area in a pickup.

An officer from Reedsport Police and a deputy made contact with the man. He allegedly exhibited several signs of intoxication, but declined to participate in any field sobriety tests. 51-year old Thompson Fields was taken into custody and a search warrant was sought.

After the search warrant was granted, Fields blood was drawn at Lower Umpqua Hospital in Reedsport. He was then jailed on charges of DUII, third-degree criminal mischief and for improper use of 911. Fields was detained without bail.
