GRANTS PASS WOMAN DIES IN PEDESTRIAN VERSUS SUV ACCIDENT

A Grants Pass woman died in a pedestrian versus vehicle accident on Saturday night.

An Oregon State Police report said at approximately 10:20 p.m. troopers responded to Interstate Five near the fairgrounds exit, about a mile south of Roseburg. The preliminary investigation indicated that an SUV operated by a 54-year old Roseburg man was traveling south on the freeway in the fast lane when it struck 54-year old Betty Hamm, who was walking across the interstate in a westbound direction.

The report said the driver of the SUV stopped immediately and fully cooperated with the investigation.

Hamm was pronounced deceased at the scene,

The roadway was impacted for approximately three hours during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is unknown, according to the report,

OSP was assisted by the Roseburg Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
