In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

The 54th annual Summer Arts Festival opens its gates on Friday.

Presented by Umpqua Valley Arts, the three-day event takes place at Fir Grove Park on West Harvard Avenue in Roseburg.

Around one hundred artists and entrepreneurs from around the Pacific Northwest will gather to connect and share their products with the public. Musicians and dancers take to the stage showcasing their talents for all to see.  Local restaurants and other food providers will offer meals and treats to eat along with plenty of local beer and wine. The event is considered a celebration of art, culture and community.

UVA Executive Director Emily Brandt said, “We are thrilled to continue this community summer tradition that not only puts a spotlight on arts and culture, but also drives tourism and economic impact to our amazing Umpqua Valley”.

The community festival provides UVA with essential operations and programmatic funding which supports the organizations mission-based arts education work in schools, professional development opportunities for artists, and cultural experiences through the county.

UVA Community Outreach Director Sarah Holborow said, “This weekend festival is a true celebration of our incredible community through arts and culture”. Holborow said, “Family-friendly, community inclusive events like Summer Arts Festival serve and strengthen our community today and for many generations to come”.

The festival hours are Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The UVA facility is normally open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
