Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man after an alleged robbery incident on Tuesday.

A DCSO report said at 1:00 p.m. a deputy was flagged down due to the suspect allegedly stealing from a business in the 300 block of North Main Street in Canyonville. An employee said he tried to confront the suspect as he was leaving but the man told the employee that he had a gun. The employee said he stopped pursuing the man after that and was getting ready to call 911 when he saw the deputy’s vehicle.

The 21-year old suspect, a transient, was contacted by a deputy and was allegedly found to be in possession of five stolen items, but did not have a gun. In total, the man reportedly had $10.60 worth of items that he had allegedly stolen. He was taken into custody and was charged with second-degree robbery and third-degree theft. The man was detained without bail.
