Roseburg Parks and Recreation has teamed up with the Umpqua Valley Arts Association to cosponsor an arboreal art exhibit called, “Tapes-Trees in the Park” which will spotlight the work of local fiber artists in Fir Grove Park.

A City of Roseburg release said the fiber art will be unveiled on trees in a public grand opening ceremony on Thursday June 22nd.  It will be held at 12:00 p.m. near the Stewart Park Drive Bridge just north of Fir Grove School.

The artwork will then be showcased throughout UVA’s Summer Arts Festival June 23rd through 25th. The plan is to keep the art project up in Fir Grove Park throughout the summer.

Knitters, crocheters and weavers were busy this past winter and spring producing artwork for the event. Thirty-six individuals, teams and groups worked on fiber arts projects that will decorate forty-two trees located along the accessible paved path on the north side of Fir Grove Park near the South Umpqua River.
