MELROSE ROAD CLOSED AT SOUTH UMPQUA RIVER MONDAY

June 15, 2023 3:30 a.m.

Melrose Road will be closed at the South Umpqua River next Monday June 19th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Dan Latham of the Oregon Department of Transportation said this is due to work on the Conn Ford Bridge replacement project.

Latham said Melrose Road motorists are advised to detour along Old Melrose Road, West Harvard Avenue, Northwest Stewart Parkway and Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard.

During the closure, prime contractor Fairline Bridge Inc. will stage a crane and other equipment on the temporary bypass bridge, allowing them to remove a work platform. This work is expected to take about seven hours.

Latham said the Conn Ford Bridge is part of a $22.6 million project that will also replace the historic 1925 bridge in Oakland. ODOT and Douglas County are partnering on the project.

Work began on both bridges in the spring of 2022 and the project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2024.
