HOUSE AND SHOP TOTAL LOSS IN RIDDLE FIRE WEDNESDAY

A house and a shop were a total loss after a fire early Wednesday in Riddle.

Riddle Fire Protection District Chief Devin Loughridge said the fire was reported at 5:00 a.m. in the 600 block of East Fifth Avenue.

Loughridge said first responders found the vacant buildings fully involved, Crews worked to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation by RFPD and the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office. Loughridge told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the property has been foreclosed on and the occupants had been evicted. Loughridge said being that no one was living at the property, the fire is being investigated as suspicious in nature.

Riddle Fire was assisted by other fire agencies, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Pacific Power, Avista Gas and the City of Riddle Public Works Department.
