A driver was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident on Monday.

An Oregon State Police report said at about 10:50 a.m. the driver of an SUV was going northbound on Interstate Five near the fairgrounds exit in Roseburg. The man said he was traveling at about 74 miles per hour when a pickup pulling a small utility trailer started to pass him on the right then abruptly changed into the left lane, hitting his SUV. The man said the SUV had not cleared his vehicle and the trailer was behind that.

The SUV driver said he hit his brakes but the pickup jackknifed in front of him and slid into a concrete barrier. The pickup driver stated that the driver of the SUV was driving recklessly and swerved into the right lane, hitting his trailer and then his pickup. The pickup driver claimed the SUV’s driver continued to accelerate and pushed his vehicle down the center lane. The driver of the pickup was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for a complaint of pain. Two juvenile passengers were transported to Mercy by a relative.

The OSP report does not indicate that any citations were issued.
