TRANSIENT JAILED AFTER FIRE NEAR KELLY’S CORNER

A transient was jailed after a fire near Kelly’s Corner in Green Sunday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 12:40 p.m. 35-year old Myson Houck was said to be leaving the area of a natural cover fire that he had allegedly started near the intersection of Roberts Creek Road and Roberts Mountain Road. The man was contacted later and admitted to starting the fire allegedly saying “The officer’s told me to”. Houck had a lighter on him and reportedly admitted to starting the fire with it. He was charged with reckless burning and for second-degree disorderly conduct.

Houck was also charged with first degree criminal mischief in a Roseburg Police case for allegedly throwing rocks and beer bottles at a business and vehicles in the 1300 block of Northeast Stephens Street in Roseburg.

Houck was detained without bail.
