Roseburg Police jailed a man following an alleged assault incident early Sunday.

An RPD report said at 3:00 a.m. officers responded to the 900 block of Northeast Rowe Street. Multiple witnesses said the 47-year old had punched a victim in the face causing swelling. Later in the morning, officers contacted the suspect in the 500 block of Southeast Stephens Street. He was charged with fourth-degree assault and for a parole violation. The man was detained without bail.
