Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association dealt with two fires over the weekend.

Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said on Saturday at approximately 4:00 p.m. crews from DFPA and seven south county rural fire districts responded to a grass fire near the 2000 block of Ferguson Lane in Days Creek. Pope said responding firefighters took immediate action and had the 13.4 acres fire extinguished, mopped up and cleared by 7:15 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Pope said on Sunday afternoon at 12:45 p.m., crews from DFPA responded to a wildland fire near Roberts Creek Road and Roberts Mountain Road, south of Roseburg. Upon arrival at the scene, staff with the Douglas County Fire District No. 2 and the Winston-Dillard Fire District had the quarter of an acre fire knocked down.  DFPA crews assisted with the mop up and cleared the scene at 1:45 p.m.

Pope said fire season is in effect and both public and industrial use restrictions are in place.  More information about the restrictions is at: www.dfpa.net
