A woman was arrested and charged with reckless burning, following a fire in the Curtin area on Saturday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 9:30 p.m. a deputy responded to the 2000 block of Buck Creek Road after a caller said a structure was on fire. When the deputy arrived, they observed a shed and a hillside on fire. Nearby houses were also in danger of catching on fire. The 36-year old said she was burning weeds with a torch.

The report said the woman was intoxicated and admitted to taking shots of whiskey. There was no hose or resources nearby for safety. This was the third time law enforcement had been called this year regarding fires at this location.
