Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported camp trailer fire next to the Gary Leif Navigation Center in the 900 block of Southeast Mill Street on Wednesday night.

Fire Chief Tyler Christopherson said a caller said the fire was accompanied by large amounts of smoke showing.

Christopherson said firefighters arrived on the scene to find a fully involved camp trailer in the 1000 block of Southeast Mill Street. The fire had quickly spread to nearby chip trailers as well. Four fifty-three-foot chip trailers caught fire in addition to the camp trailer. All were in a storage lot adjacent to the Navigation Center.

Christopherson said crews made an aggressive exterior attack of the trailers and quickly extinguished the fires. They also completed a primary and secondary search as well as overhaul. The camp trailer was a total loss and all four chip trailers sustained damage. The camp trailer was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Roseburg Police Department provided assistance at the fire scene.
