A shed being used as a living space was destroyed in a fire Tuesday evening in west Roseburg.

A release from the Roseburg Fire Department said personnel responded to a reported structure fire in the 2700 block of West Sanders Avenue at 6:15 p.m.

Firefighters made an exterior attack to the shed, extinguished the fire and completed overhaul. Crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to the primary residential home that was adjacent to the shed. The resident was not inside the structure at the time of the fire. Umpqua Valley Ambulance assessed a resident of the primary residential structure but that person was not transported for additional medical care.

The shed was a total loss as it sustained extensive structural and water damage. No residents were displaced due to the fire.

The fire remains under investigation. Twelve firefighters assisted with firefighting operations. Several other agencies were on scene to help RFD with the effort.
