Winston Teen Center will have a watermelon eating contest its students on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Winston Community Park.

Winston Area Community Partnership Executive Director Roxanna Grant said with all the sad and tragic events surrounding teens lately, organizers want to offer a positive celebration. The event is sponsored by Winston Grocery Outlet which is providing the watermelons.

During June the teen center will hold a weekly barbecue for teens on Wednesdays. This will also be at Winston Community Park, which is at 440 Southeast Grape Street. Call the Winston Teen Center at 671-1274 for more information.
