Monday is Memorial Day and that means there are a number of closures.

Federal, state, county and city offices are closed. Regular mail will not be delivered. School is not in session. Banks and credit unions will not be open. Most professional offices will be closed. Some retail stores will be closed or have different hours, but the majority will be open as normal.

Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, is a federal holiday for honoring and mourning United States military personnel who died while serving in the Armed Forces. From 1868 to 1970, it was observed on May 30th. In 1971, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act and established that Memorial Day was to be commemorated on the last Monday of May.
