A transient was jailed for alleged disorderly conduct incidents by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

A DCSO report said just before 8:20 a.m. a deputy traveled to the Family Mart in the 500 block of Bear Creek Road in Curtin after a caller said a man had caused multiple disturbances during the morning. The deputy contacted 49-year old Michael Rushing and attempted to arrest him.

Rushing reportedly ran away so the deputy initiated a foot pursuit. When the deputy caught up to the man, he allegedly resisted arrest. Rushing was described as being “very violent” and would not comply with commands. After a physical altercation, the suspect was taken into custody.

Rushing was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, assaulting a public safety officer and interfering with a police officer. He was detained on $10,000 bail.
