Roseburg Police jailed a man following an alleged shoplifting incident and for escaping custody on Thursday afternoon.

An RPD report said just after 2:10 p.m. 29-year Nickolas Kaisershot was contacted at a business in the 2100 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway. Officers knew there was probable cause to arrest the man after he allegedly stole from another business. Kaisershot ran from officers when told he was under arrest. After a short foot chase through a pond area, officers took the suspect in custody.

Kaisershot was charged with first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree counts of escape and theft. He was detained without bail.
