Everyone can fish, clam and crab for free in Oregon on Saturday and Sunday, June 3rd and 4th.
A release from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife said no fishing or shellfish licenses or tags are required on those two days. Both state residents and non-residents can take part.
All other fishing regulations apply including closures, bag limits and size restrictions.
The release said those fishing should expect lots of extra rainbow trout to be stocked in Oregon’s lakes for that weekend. More fish are stocked between Memorial Day and June’s free fishing weekend than at any other time of the year.
ODFW staff and a number of fishing organizations will host events throughout the state on Free Fishing Weekend, bringing all the gear beginners need to get started. Staff and volunteers will be available to teach people how to bait, cast, land and clean the catch.
In Douglas County events will be held on Saturday June 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cooper Creek Reservoir, and on Sunday June 4th from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Lake Marie in Reedsport.
