A local teacher is receiving some assistance as part of a national program.

In honor of May being Teacher Appreciation Month, SONIC Drive-in’s SONIC Foundation has donated $1.5 million to match all public contributions on DonorsChoose, a national nonprofit that allowed individuals to donate directly to public school classroom requests submitted by teachers.

The donation matched 50 percent of each donation made to all teacher requests. SONIC helped fully fund nearly 15,300 from teachers and schools across the country.

In Roseburg, teacher Jennifer Wooden at Sunnyslope Elementary School received a combined donation of $218 from SONIC for her Kindergarten Art project for grades PreK-2: https://www.donorschoose.org/project/kindergarten-art-a-journey-through-deve/7365158/
