SPECIAL DISTRICTS ELECTION UNOFFICIAL PRELIMINARY RESULTS

May 17, 2023 5:00 a.m.

So far it appears that there is lower than normal turnout for the May 2023 Douglas County Special Districts Election.

As of early Wednesday, the ballots of just over 18 percent of registered voters have been counted. Ballots that were postmarked by Tuesday continue to be counted. The results become official on June 12th.

Voters in the City of Roseburg have said yes to making changes in the City Charter. That proposal is leading 62.5 percent to 37.5 percent opposed.

In the Roseburg School District voters have turned down another attempt to pass a bond levy. A proposal to raise just over $75.5 million in bonds to increase security, improve building health and safety and more, was turned down 56 percent to 43.9 percent. The levy would have included spending $31.5 million of the total amount to replace the Old Main building at Roseburg High School. That structure was built around one hundred years ago.

As is common in Special Districts Elections many seats were unopposed while some had no candidate file for the position.
