A Canyonville man was jailed for an alleged assault incident on Wednesday.

Information released Friday from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 10:30 a.m. a victim called and said she had been in a physical altercation with the 53-year old at a residence in the 200 block of Sunset Drive in Canyonville.

Deputies contacted the victim at a medical clinic where she was being seen for her injuries. The report said the victim had visible bruising around her neck where she claimed the man held her down and was choking her. She also had a bruise on her cheek and knots on the back of her head where she claimed the man had punched her. The interview was consistent with the injuries.

The suspect provided several different stories, neither of which was consistent with the victim’s injuries. The man was charged with fourth-degree assault and for strangulation. He was held on $10,000 bail and was released on Thursday.
